“Há 400 anos plantamos cana no Nordeste e é fato que a cultura teve altos e baixos, mas sempre sobreviveu, ao contrário do algodão, que foi dizimado pelo Bicudo e do Sisal, substituído pelas fibras sintéticas. Portanto, uma cultura que resiste tanto tempo, que representa importante sustentáculo econômico e social, que gera muitos empregos no campo, que de tudo se aproveita, e que ainda é matéria-prima de um combustível limpo e renovável precisa ser cada vez mais valorizada”, disse hoje (19), o presidente da Associação dos Plantadores de Cana da Paraíba (Asplan), José Inácio de Morais. O dirigente canavieiro abriu o ciclo de palestras do IV Dia de Campo Sobre Cana-de-açúcar no Brejo Paraibano. O evento, realizado pelo Grupo de Estudos Sucroenergético (GESUCRO) e pelo Centro de Ciências Agrárias (CCA) da UFPB, com apoio da Prefeitura Municipal de Areia e do Senar, aconteceu na Fazenda Experimental Chã-de-Jardim, em Areia.
Antes dele falaram o Vice-Diretor do CCA, Ricardo Romão, o Coordenador do Curso de Agronomia e Orientador do Gesucro, Fábio Mielezrski, a Presidente do Gesucro, Mayra Alves e o Secretário de Agricultura de Areia, Antônio Fernando. Todos ressaltaram os avanços e a excelência dos cursos de Ciências Agrárias da UFPB – Agronomia, Zootecnia e Veterinária – o advento das pesquisas recentes realizadas pela instituição e a qualificação da mão de obra especializada egressa do CCA de Areia que além dos cursos de graduação dispõe de Mestrado e Doutorado, com atividades em ensino, pesquisa e extensão. A Presidente do Gesucro ainda agradeceu o apoio das instituições para a realização do evento, com destaque para a participação da Asplan.
Em sua fala, José Inácio fez críticas ao que ele chamou de preconceito contra a cultura, abordou a desinformação sobre o uso de defensivos agrícolas, fez um breve histórico da história e evolução da cultura canavieira na Paraíba, no Nordeste e no Brasil e aconselhou o público que o assistia, formada em sua maioria por estudantes do CCA, que tivessem perseverança e olhassem a cultura canavieira com especial atenção. “Infelizmente, ainda tem gente que por absoluta falta de conhecimento não consegue enxergar a importância da cultura canavieira e seus inúmeros benefícios, ainda tem pessoas que condenam o uso de defensivos agrícolas, que são imprescindíveis para a produção de alimentos, achando que a agricultura orgânica teria condições de abastecer os mercados em larga escala. Óbvio que onde puder fazer agricultura orgânica que se faça, mas, ela não é viável em larga escala” disse ele.
Sobre a produção de cana no Brejo, José Inácio lembrou que houve uma época que a cultura quase acabou na região, com o fechamento da usina Tanques e da Santa Maria, e que muita gente migrou para produção de fruta, o que não foi uma escolha muito apropriada, já que a umidade prejudica a fruticultura. “A produção de cachaça no Brejo, que é uma das melhores do Brasil, reavivou a cultura canavieira”, disse ele, lembrando que a cana é uma cultura que pode ser conduzida com outras formas de produção no campo. Ele ressaltou ainda o crescimento dos canaviais em São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso e Minas Gerais que tiveram ampla expansão enquanto que no Nordeste a cultura permaneceu, mas, não se ampliou. “Aumentamos no NE a produtividade, a partir do uso de tecnologias, irrigação plena e de salvação, reduzindo as diferenças de padrão em relação ao Sudeste”, reiterou ele, lembrado que o Nordeste tem a vantagem da logística.
Por fim, José Inácio ressaltou que a cana lhe deu grandes lições de vida, sendo a maior delas a resistência na superação de adversidades e que a Asplan está de portas abertas para ajudar no que for preciso para a evolução da cultura canavieira na Paraíba. “Além da cana, plantei várias culturas, mas, posso afirmar para vocês que a cultura canavieira nunca me decepcionou”, reiterou ele que, na ocasião, se emocionou ao tomar conhecimento da homenagem da turma de Agronomia 2017.2, que vai colocar o nome dele na placa de formatura.
Resultados das Pesquisas
Os resultados das pesquisas realizadas durante cinco anos na fazenda Experimental do CCA-UFPB também fez parte da programação do Dia de Campo. Coube ao Engenheiro Agrônomo da Ubyfol e Doutorando em Agronomia, Lucilo José Morais, apresentar os dados que foram coletados a partir do trabalho executado com 10 variedades: as SP79-1011 e VAT90-212, e as RB951541, RB992506, RB041443, RB021754, RB863129, RB962962, RB93509 e a RB002754, essa última com os melhores resultados obtidos nos estudos, apresentando uma média de 100 toneladas por hectare na cana planta e 57 toneladas na 5° folha, acima da média nacional na planta e regional no quinto corte.
A variedade SP79-1011, a mais plantada na região do Brejo Paraibano, com o trabalho de calagem, utilizando 4,5 toneladas, obteve segundo o estudo uma diferença de 50% de produtividade, chegando a patamares de 85 toneladas por hectare. O estudo avaliou também o teor de sólidos solúveis da SP79-1011 que atingiu brix 21, apresentando o maior índice da pesquisa. “Concluímos que o melhor desempenho neste estudo foi apresentado pela RB002754 que apesar de não ser a variedade mais plantada no Brejo foi a que teve o melhor resultado”, disse Lucilo.
Programação
Além da palestra do presidente da Asplan, a programação do IV Dia de Campo Sobre Cana-de-açúcar no Brejo Paraibano incluiu a participação do Professor Doutor, Emídio Cantídio da UFRPE, que falou sobre ‘Fertilidade do solo e nutrição de plantas: estratégias para aumentar a produtividade’ e outras sobre ‘Variedades e clones promissores para o Estado da Paraíba, proferida por Amaro Epifânio, além da ‘Principais doenças da cana-de-açúcar na região Nordeste’, por William José, ambos da Ridesa-UFRPE.
Luiz Cláudio Santos, Diretor Técnico da Agromape, abordou o tema ‘Fixação biológica de Nitrogênio na cana-de-açúcar’. “Biotecnologia e variedades CTC para o Nordeste” e o tema da palestra seguinte, com o Representante Técnico de Vendas CTC, Wéliton Tenório. No final do dia, houve a apresentação dos resultados das pesquisas realizadas na fazenda Experimental do CCA-UFPB.
